COCEMO's annual reateats are held at IL RITIRO Franciscan Retreat Center.

It is owned and operated by the Franciscan Province of the Sacred Heart.  IL RITIRO has been helping people to grow in their relationship with God and all creation, which is rooted in a God who loves us and created us. In the Spirit of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi, IL RITIRO offers a place of hospitality and respect for all people of faith. They strive to create an environment that fosters a sense of connection with God through creation, beauty, ample time and space for prayer and contemplation.

Our retreat center in the Ozark hills near Dittmer, Missouri, provides a welcoming place for prayer, retreats, conferences, and other types of gatherings. The nature setting, along with the hospitality and comforts of the facilities, makes IL RITIROthe perfect place for you to come for relaxation, reflection, and renewal.

The name, IL RITIRO, means "little retreat".  It is reminiscent of the Franciscan values of simplicity and humility.

March 18, 2017 - Jefferson City - UNITED IN PRAYER DAY
Contemplatives from central Missouri met at the Catholic Center to participate in the international Contemplative Outreach United In Prayer Day. UIP Day is set aside as a day for contemplatives world-wide to join in community and prayer. The Jefferson City cathedral CP group hosted the event and Fr. Matthew Flatley, Coordinator of Contemplative Outreach of Central Missouri was the facilitator.
During the program the group participated in two Centering Prayer sits. Fr. Flatley took those less experienced in CP and instructed them in the simple method. In addition the group saw two presentations on Contemplative prayer, had discussions of the videos, and Fr. Flatley gave an explanation and short demonstration of Lectio Divina, or sacred reading of the scriptures.
Thanks to the Jeff City folks that arranged for the event and blessings on all who attended either in person or in spirit.

June 26, 2015, Columbia, MO - Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Contemplative Outreach of Central Missouri (COCEMO) was blessed with the opportunity to provide about 150 attendees with a unique experience. They were able to hear Fr. William Meninger, OCSO, a renowned spiritual teacher, retreat master and author, as he shared his 50+ years of experience relating to his, and our own, search for God. During the second part of his presentation he taught the group his personal approach to Centering Prayer and led those assembled in a brief Centering Prayer session. Fr. Meninger, along with Fr. Basil Pennington and Fr. Thomas Keating were the creators of this contemporary method of Christian meditation. All who attended also shared in fellowship, refreshments and book sales. Fr. Meninger was available for book signing and personal encounters with the participants.
